The New York State Museum

In Albany, this museum features a variety of permanent and changing exhibits on the cultural history of New York State

Schenectady Museum

Planetarium shows are offered at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The Museum will have special planetarium showings during school vacation weeks and on some holidays.

The Tang Museum

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College opened in October 2000. Its facilities include: Two major exhibition galleries; a 150-person multi-purpose event space; two multimedia-equipped classrooms; permanent storage for the Tang’s collection ;a rooftop patio for public events; a spacious, light-filled central atrium for openings and receptions; a Tang Store with books, design objects, and cultural products and a prep and workshop space for onsite exhibition design, staging, and construction work.

There is also an assortment of smaller special interest museums, for example, the Childrens’ Museum, the National Museum of Dance and the Racing Museum in Saratoga Springs, as well as the Bottle Museum in Ballston Spa.
